![]() Restart the server so it gets to the login screen but DO NOT login. If this comes back clean you're not far off. Run a new task via task manager of 'CMD' and enter this at the prompt - sfc /scannow to make sure you don't have any issues with the protected windows files needed to use the OS. Then you need to turn off Date Execution Prevention and User Account Control, Google how to do these if necessary. REMOVE any virus protection and restart if necessary, doing the steps above again in order to stabilise the OS again so you can work. The best way to do that is to log into the server in safe mode, then get task manager up and end the explorer.exe process as well as one other (can't recall right now) process that will keep appearing (trying to recover explorer) - once done you should be left with a screen that only allows you to see task manager.įrom there if you go to 'new task' in control panel and run 'control.exe' you will be able to get into the control panel. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I assume it's S2008, it's caught in a perpetual explorer.exe hang and restart?įirstly you need to stop Explorer auto-restarting as you won't be able to do anything until this is done. Ok, it's a combination of a number of things you need to do in order to fix it, can be a bit of a pain in the arse annoyingly. ![]()
